Katrina pictures from a local in Magee, MS, when the eye passed over.

March 17, 2007 - from Bob Skees - I spoke with Don at SP yesterday.  He was the guy who handed out assignments.  He informed me that Vinnies roof is done and all the flooring as well.  Vinnie has moved his camper and a deck is being built.  The electric and plumbing is just around the corner as well as the drywall.  Don also told me the Vinnie ran an extension cord into the house along with a drop light.  He commenced to sit in a chair and read a book.  Vinnie is as happy as a kid in a candy store.  Also Richard and Samantha are much closer to moving in their trailer.  Two more windows were installed along with some doors.  The fixtures were installed in the shower too.  As large group of college kids were in Kiln last week.  John from the N.C. group e mailed me and told me that S.P. is building six new homes from the ground up between now and July or August.  I spoke to Don about that and he confirmed it.  I may go back on my own after spring semester. I'll wait and see.

March 8, 2007 - from Brad Carlson - Several of us (Woody Hohenshil, Mark & Christine Ruwe and myself) were able to share dinner with the Sharp family and tour their home.  It was such a blessing to see them back in their home and see a project that so many of us worked on, completed.  It looks so very nice, and the Sharps are so grateful to all that helped, with special thanks to Jim, who added so many of the final touches.  To see the emotional healing and spiritual growth makes all of the work worthwhile!

June 24, 2006 - from Brad Carlson - I received a call from Calvin Sharp today.  He was celebrating his birthday and Anna's the day before.  For their birthday, they were able to move back into their house!  They were quite ecstatic to be out of the FEMA trailer, and into a home that they are very thankful for.  He asked that I pass on to everyone that helped them a big thank you for helping make this possible!

April 17, 2006 - from Kimberly Pierz - A party is happening!  Click here to see details for Team 2006-5!

April 11, 2006 - from Brad Carlson - As in the pictures above, and because a number of NorthRidge teams have worked on the Sharp residence, I would like to put together a history of our efforts there.  For that reason, we need pictures from Teams 2006 6-9 showing the progress made there.

For that matter, we would love to post pictures and stories from ALL NorthRidge teams to the coast.  Please submit them, along with captions if applicable to webmaster@reedfam.net.

While not our intent to single out the Sharp's, it seems to be the project most visible to us.  We're happy to feature other families as well.

March 21, 2006 - from Brad Carlson - We finally have permission & encouragement from NorthRidge (Kevin McKenna) for making additional donations to our Katrina families that need help with rebuilding.  Simply make donations to NorthRidge Church, flagged for "Katrina Reconstruction", and, if targeted for a specific family, put a post-it-note or the like indicating the family name.  Note:  We have teams down there the next 2.5 weeks that could use this money, as team 2006-5 did, to purchase supplies for the teams to install.  Kevin promises to get it down there post-haste, to make it available while we have people there.  It's quite possible that after Team 9 is done, the NorthRidge focus will shift to an area outside of Kiln, so if you wish to donate to our previous families, now is the time to do so!  Best bet, to reach a given family is to let me coordinate your donation through NorthRidge, to expedite funds reaching our teams in time.  Blessings to you that have already donated; future donations, through the church will be tax-deductible.

March 16, 2006 - from Brad Carlson - News from Kiln is that both team 6 & 7 have had people on site, continuing the reconstruction of the Sharp's home.  The family is extremely grateful for the tremendous progress made and the dedication of our teams.

March 6, 2006 - from Brad Carlson - The generosity exhibited by Team 5 to the Sharp Family continues to amaze me.  The Sharp's rebuilding had been stalled for months, and when the need was presented, $1,700 was donated by the team within hours to fund interior doors, lighting & plumbing fixtures.  Your investment with hard work, sharing His love on your families, and with financial generosity will not go un-rewarded.  I believe God had tears in His eyes for what all y'all did.  The Sharp's thank you, I thank you, and God thanks you for hearing the call.

NorthRidge Church of Plymouth, Michigan has sent and continues to send a number of teams to Mississippi and Louisiana to aid Samaritan's Purse and other organizations in the relief and cleanup of our nations greatest natural disaster, and restoring hope to those ravaged by Hurricane Katrina.

The Lord is tremendously blessing this outreach with many lives changed, not only with those being ministered to, but also within the relief teams!

Please take the time to visit our pages and links, to learn of the struggle, effort and opportunities available to minister to this region of our country.  But before doing so, ask God to make your heart sensitive to how you can make a difference in yours, as well as victims lives.

If you have submissions, stories, prayer requests or comments, please email them to Brad Carlson, and we'll get them posted.  This site is currently hosted by www.reedfam.net  Check it out!

  • March 12, 2007- Team 25 has returned!  Great unity, weather, projects and a team member leading someone to Christ exemplified this trip.
